Cotopaxi Volcano is one of Ecuador's tallest mountains and is almost 6000 meters tall. Also, the upper part of it to its summit is covered in a glacier. Since the 1500s, it has experienced more than 50 eruptions, its most recent being in 1904. There could have possibly been an eruption in 1942, but as of yet, there is not enough evidence to confirm it occurred. From 1975-1976, the volcano had more smoke, and its snow started to melt a little. What makes the volcano unique, is a crater, right at its summit of 5,911 meters.
